Elements of heArt
Elements of heART provides access to structured, sequential visual literacy concepts through games, discussions, stories, and art projects that isolate foundational art tools integrated with social-emotional domains and early leadership skills.

As young artists get an introduction to important art basics, they also get to experience the power of growth mindset thinking and how developing their leadership skills can serve them beyond their creative discoveries.
This one-of-a-kind program has been running in schools for over ten years and has served thousands of kids around the Bay Area. It is a highly versatile program. We have adapted it to fit both K-2 and 3-5th grade classes. We've also led variations of it successfully with middle and high school students in camp and residency formats. Even the adults in our PD workshops resonate with a lot of the concepts and approaches pulled from this program. After all, we're all just big kids at heart.

Our signature K-5 program, Elements of heART, provides an introduction to an "artist's basic tool kit" playfully facilitated within a blended framework of visual arts skill building and character development through our ARTISTS Character Code. This program improves growth mindset thinking, fosters curiosity, and builds community through creative exploration of foundational art skills integrated with mindful choice-making. Our model supports social-emotional learning that builds creative problem solving through an emphasis on visual literacy and expressive fluency. Young heARTISTS emerge with a deeper understanding of design thinking as a mode for meaningful innovation and connection. This development becomes synonymous with the values of a courageous and compassionate leader. Our content is visual, our context is character and together our framework is making a vital impact for thousands of K-5 kids in the Bay Area and beyond.
