Leaders-In-Training
The heARTful Kids LIT program is designed to give rising 7th-9th graders the opportunity to be role models for younger campers, build confidence, leadership skills, and gain hands on experience learning from (and leading alongside) professional teaching artists.

The LIT program is for rising
7th-9th graders who:
✨Have been campers and want to continue their heARTful Kids experience
✨Are interested in working with younger kids
✨Are passionate about the arts
✨Are interested in working towards paid summer internships in high school
✨Are ready to grow their leadership skills in a fun and caring community
✨Just discovered heARTful Kids but have aged out of the camps

Application Process
1
Understand Requirements
The LIT process is designed to prepare middle schoolers for summer jobs and future work internships. LITs should be prepared to commit to the following:
-
a full 2-week session, either: June 15-26 or July 6-17
-
a full (and fun) training day on May 16th with other LITs and the heARTful Kids Team
-
to show up to camp with a participatory spirit and a desire to help younger kids through art activities
2
Submit Application
We ask that the application is completed by the Leader-In-Training themselves so we can get a sense of their personality and voice. It is fine to have a parent or adult assist with the application process, but we request that the LIT is the one providing the responses to our questions. Once your application is complete we will follow up about scheduling an interview.
3
Attend Interview
Interviews will be virtual and take place in April. These are designed to determine readiness and overall fit with our team.

After all interviews are complete we will select 3 LITs per session to support at camp. Offer letters will go out May 1st.

Once position is accepted, payment will be due and more info will be shared about the LIT Training day.
