∞ COVID considerations: I purposely don't wear these garments while modeling to respect current health considerations, and because when I make them, I can feel when they have a home to go to.
When I make clothes, I can feel when they have a home to go to. There's something almost preverbal, primal, powerful: a rawness and also a deep connection to lineage. Gratitude for my ancestry (my grandmother taught me to sew) and a grace amidst the grittiness of this modern paced life slows me down. Combining cast away clothes/ scraps with lux fabrics represents a process of internal transformation. These garments symbolize our interconnectednss as whole and our uniqueness as an important threads in the tapestry of life. Each piece seems to land with its rightful person to honor their unique journey in a universal search for meaning and love.
This top came into being effortlessly. The cap sleeves were scraps from another top, perfectly shaped for this garment. Even the bodice was a scrap from a larger creation that was nearly shirt shaped. It's as if the pieces wanted to be together to form this sassy little crop top.
