PLAY With PURPOSE

Social Skills Groups + Classes

We are well versed in bridging play and art into therapeutic approaches that build social skills, emotional awareness, and cognitive goals. We have significant experience designing a variety of visual arts themed camps and workshops for TK through adulthood. If you're looking to register for our K-3rd Summer Camps in the Oakland Hills, you can learn more here. Our Pre-K social skills group will resume in August at our Oakland Hills Campus (3500 Mountain Blvd). We are in the process of applying to be vendors with the Regional Center to help give more families access to these opportunities. 

Social Skills Play Group

  • Our Play With Purpose Social Skills Group is a 1.5 hour in-person play group that supports kids 18 months to 5 years old.

  • Play sessions are carefully curated with a mixture of stories, creative activities, and social time that provide both structured engagement and open play. We incorporate sensory and process-based art investigation and look closely at the needs of the children in each group to determine the level of collaborative versus parallel play needed. Each session focuses on building relationships, supporting emotional awareness, and strengthening communication skills.

  • Location: Sessions are held in the heARTful Kids Hangout (Oakland Hills Campus 3500 Mountain Blvd. Oakland; formerly Holy Names University).

  • If you are interested in our one to one support services, please check out our Art Therapy session packages.

  • If you feel your child would benefit from creative engagement like this, but might not yet be ready for in-person group play, we offer live virtual field trips that blend our unique story and creative social hour approach.

Play Group Schedule

  • Tuesdays and Thursdays

  • 18-36 month group: 9-10:30am

  • 3-5 year old group: 11am-12:30pm

  • We have a minimum of 4 kids and max of 8 per group.

  • Next group begins September and runs through November 2025.

Play Group Membership Rates

  • 1 session per week:  $260/month

  • 2 sessions per week: $480/month

  • Three month commitment

  • Or 8 session series at your frequency of choice for $760 (paid in full or available in installments)
